Why the area stops where it does

We could claim to cover the whole of Chicagoland. Plenty of companies do. In practice, a chimney crew that is genuinely two hours away either does not turn up when you need them or charges you for the drive, and neither is much use when smoke is coming into your living room on a Sunday.

Fifteen towns is what three people can cover properly from Geneva while still getting to urgent calls the same day. It also means we actually know the housing. We know which Elgin neighbourhoods have unlined brick flues, which Geneva streets have the 1890s stock with soft lime mortar that modern mortar will destroy if you point it wrong, and which subdivisions in South Elgin and North Aurora were built with prefabricated fireplaces that have sat unused since the house was sold.

If you are just outside the ring, call anyway. We would rather tell you honestly than have you guess.

Not sure if we reach you?

One phone call settles it. Seven days a week, 7am to 8pm.

Questions about us

How far do you travel?

Fifteen towns around Geneva, covering most of Kane County and the western edge of DuPage. Roughly speaking, if you are between Elburn and Carol Stream, or between Elgin and Aurora, you are inside our area.

What if my town is not listed?

Call and ask. The list covers where we work regularly, not a hard boundary. If you are a few minutes outside it we will usually still come; if it is genuinely too far we will say so rather than waste your time.

Do you charge more for towns further from Geneva?

No. The prices on our pricing page apply across the whole service area.

Which towns can you usually reach fastest?

Geneva, St. Charles and Batavia, since we are based on Commons Drive in Geneva and those are the immediate neighbours. North Aurora and Elburn are close behind.

Do you work in the older parts of these towns?

Constantly. The older housing in Geneva, St. Charles, Batavia and Elgin is where the interesting chimney work is — unlined flues, soft historic mortar, and crowns that were never built for a century of freeze-thaw.

Do you serve new-build subdivisions?

Yes, and they have their own pattern of problems: factory-built fireplaces that have never been lit, prefabricated metal chimneys with caps that blow off, and long dryer vent runs that block quickly.

Can you do several houses on the same street?

Yes, and it is worth asking neighbours. If we can do more than one property in a visit we can usually be more flexible on timing.

Do you work weekends across the whole area?

Yes. Seven days a week, 7am to 8pm, everywhere we serve, at the same prices.
